We are a group of experimental psychologists who, from a variety of disciplinary backgrounds (psycho-acoustics, visual perception, motor behavior, and cognition) have come together to create a synergy between fundamental work in cognitive psychology and research with an applied focus in fields such as reading and reading disabilities, creativity and giftedness, and the exploration and optimization of learning environments. Our methods have remained predominantly experimental, and range from reaction time measurement and diagnostic test application to EEG and MRI. Our aim is expressed in our slogan: “building bridges”: these bridges should connect to fundamental and applied research in psychology, in particular experimental with applied educational/developmental, but also psychology with its neighboring sciences, such as neuroscience and biology.
