Project Description

EB is a joint project between Kaiserslautern University of Applied Sciences, Ludwigshafen University of Applied Sciences, and Technical University Kaiserslautern, which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. This research and development project investigates the social and economic trends of the Westpfalz region, in order to develop educational programmes that meet the need of skilled workers and the fluid economy.

Within the scope of this project, each project partner is responsible for a subproject that corresponds to their respective expertise. At Technical University Kaiserslautern the subproject “Evidence-based High school Research and Proposal Development” aims to develop evidence based anticipative and sustainable study programmes, including programmes that assist students without traditional university entrance qualifications to access higher education.

This subproject is subdivided in two work packages: The first research unit develops an integrative model of the Westpfalz region, anticipating and monitoring education and labour market opportunities, with a special focus on the university sector. The aim is to guide adjustment of educational opportunities and close the gap between the labour market needs in the region of Westpfalz and the educational offering, by investigating the educational prerequisites for the professionally qualified target groups, in order to develop a competence-needs orientated proposal (work package 1).

The second unit will adapt a methodological approach to investigate the openness of universities to the incorporation of the competence-needs orientated proposal prepared in unit 1.

Both research units are in a reciprocal relationship, where findings of the survey will be utilized for continuous revision and further development of the respective methods and instruments. Finally, the evaluation of the developed study formats will be realised within the scope of the subproject.
